Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026. Written in plain English on purpose — no legal template filler.

The one-sentence version

Your photos never leave your device when you use the resizing tool; the only tracking on this site is the standard, anonymized kind used to keep the lights on and to show relevant ads.

What happens to the images you resize

Nothing, in the sense of "nothing happens on my end." When you drop a photo into ImgReduce, your browser reads the file, draws it onto a canvas element, and re-encodes it — all of that happens locally, using code that's already loaded in your browser tab. There is no upload request, no storage bucket, and no queue on a server somewhere. I genuinely can't see the images people resize, because they're never sent to me. If you check your browser's network activity while using the tool, you'll see it stays quiet after the page loads.

What I do collect

Like most websites, the hosting provider (this site runs on static hosting) keeps basic server logs — things like IP address, browser type, and the page requested, for security and uptime purposes. I use a lightweight, privacy-respecting analytics setup that reports aggregate numbers (how many people visited, which pages, roughly which country) without building a profile tied to you individually. I don't sell data myself, because I don't have meaningful data to sell.

Advertising and cookies

This site may show ads served through Google AdSense and similar advertising partners. Google and its partners use cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on a visitor's previous visits to this site or other sites on the internet. That usage lets Google and its partners show ads that are more relevant to you, and to measure how well those ads perform.

You're not stuck with that if you'd rather not see personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising entirely by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies directly in their settings if you'd rather switch it off at the source.

None of this touches the actual image resizing — ad cookies and the tool's local, in-browser processing are completely separate systems. Blocking ad cookies won't break the resizer, and using the resizer doesn't feed any data into the ad system.

Other third parties

The page loads two font families from Google Fonts so headings and body text render consistently across devices. That's a standard request your browser makes to load the font files; Google's own privacy policy covers that request. If you use the contact form, your browser may store what you've typed temporarily on your own device so you don't lose a draft if you navigate away by accident.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please reach out through the contact page and I'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If anything material changes — say, I add a feature that does require a server, or change advertising partners — I'll update this page and change the date at the top rather than quietly editing it.

Questions

If any of this is unclear, or you want more detail than a policy page usually gives, reach out through the contact page. A real person reads those messages.
