Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026. Also written in plain English — the goal is that you actually read it, not that it looks impressive.

What this is

These terms cover your use of ImgReduce — the website and the image resizing/compression tool on it. By using the site, you're agreeing to the points below. If something here doesn't sit right with you, the simplest option is just not to use the tool; there's no account to cancel or subscription to worry about, because there isn't one.

The service, in plain terms

ImgReduce lets you resize and compress image files — changing their file size, pixel dimensions, or format — entirely inside your own browser. It's provided free, with no login, no usage limits beyond the practical ones mentioned on the site (like the 15 MB per-photo cap), and no guarantee of any particular feature staying exactly the same forever. I build and maintain this as a small independent project, not a company with a support team on standby.

Your photos, your responsibility

You're responsible for the images you choose to process with this tool. Specifically, please don't use ImgReduce to resize or compress images that:

Because the whole point of this tool is that your images are processed locally and never uploaded anywhere, I have no way to see, monitor, or moderate what anyone resizes. That also means I can't be the one enforcing this list in real time — it's simply a condition of using the site, and the responsibility for what you process sits with you.

No warranty, and no guarantee of a specific result

ImgReduce is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. I try hard to make the compression and resizing accurate and high quality (there's a whole engineering effort behind hitting your target file size at the best possible quality), but I can't promise a specific outcome for every image, every browser, or every device. Very old browsers, unusual file formats, or corrupted source files may not process the way you'd expect.

You're using the tool at your own discretion. Keep a copy of your original photo before resizing if it matters to you — ImgReduce doesn't keep any backup of your original file, because it never had a copy to begin with.

Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, I'm not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) this site or tool — including things like a photo not coming out the way you hoped, a browser crash, or a missed deadline because a form rejected a file size. This is a free tool maintained by one person, and the liability I can reasonably take on reflects that.

Intellectual property

The ImgReduce name, logo, site design, and the text of this website (including the blog articles) belong to me, and aren't licensed for you to copy or republish elsewhere without asking first. Your photos, obviously, stay entirely yours — using the tool doesn't transfer any rights over your images to me, which is also just naturally true given I never receive a copy of them.

Advertising

This site may display ads served through Google AdSense or similar advertising networks to help cover hosting and development costs. Ads are managed by those third parties according to their own policies; see the Privacy Policy for how that affects cookies and data.

Changes to the service or these terms

I may update the tool, the site, or these terms over time as things get better or requirements change. If a change is significant, I'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you're accepting the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the site operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, reach out through the contact page. I'd rather explain it plainly than have you guess.
